Kayla Sohn started her dancing career at the age of 2 here at Jan’s School of Dance. She was involved with the competition lines at an early age performing jazz, lyrical, ballet, pointe, musical theatre, clogging and multiple solos. She then went to dance at Gustavus Adolphus College on their national dance team where she was a captain. She was also a member of the Gustavus Dance Company where she focused and performed modern pieces. Kayla graduated with a B.A. in dance and communication studies. She then went on to dance for the Minnesota Swarm Performance team for two years and is now in her 5th year as a Minnesota Vikings Cheerleader and is a captain.

Kayla works with our competition lines and various solos and duets. Kayla’s favorite part of being in the studio is choreographing dances. “I love motivating and inspiring the students I work with that anything is possible, and seeing them become more confident and proud. I love helping them connect with movement and message behind choreography. The best moments are when you see your dances impact the audience and know that your choreography is speaking to your students and the audience.” We are very fortunate to have Kayla’s bright smile and talent at our studio.

Leah (Schabert) Erson began her love for dance when she was a toddler. She danced competitively in various styles of dance for almost 2 decades during which time she had the incredible opportunity to partake in many local and national competitions and workshops.

After graduating from High School, Leah went on to North Dakota State University where she was the captain of the National Champion dance team for four years. Following graduation, Leah owned and operated a dance studio for many years in Fargo, ND.  She later received her Masters Degree Magna Cum Laude in Radiation Therapy.

Leah has choreographed award-winning dances for high schools and colleges nationwide.  Leah’s most “goosebump worthy” moments are when dancers gain confidence in themselves as artists, along with watching routines come to life on stage.
